The Kingdom
of Morocco is situated on the northwest tip of Africa, with the Atlantic
Ocean on one coast and the Mediterranean on the other. Morocco is
easily accessible; it is only fourteen kilometres away from Europe
across the straits of Gibraltar.
Moroccan
cuisine is one of the finest in the world. The national dish is
the tajine, which has as many variations as there are regions in
Morocco. The national drink is mint tea. Salads, couscous, pastilla,
fish and other seafood, and delicious pastries contribute to the
gastronomic delights.
The
alluring essence of Morocco filters through the layered rituals
of daily life; fragrant mint tea ceremonies, families gathering
for feasts of succulent lamb and vegetable couscous, and the sing-song
of women and children shopping at the local markets.
Morocco
is many things to travellers - exotic, magical, beautiful and tantalising.
From camel rides in the Sahara, carpet buying rituals in the medina,
fortune telling in Marrakech' square, everyone's experience is unique.
Many travellers return with fond memories and renewed desire for
the charm and diversity of Moroccan culture and cuisine.
The
weather varies from Mediterranean in the north, to sub-tropical
in the south. The nearness of the sea and the Rif and Atlas mountain
ranges guarantees a pleasant climate all year round.
At
Zelij Moroccan Interiors, we
welcome all to experience the Moroccan way of life. To learn and
understand the many elements that have contributed to a vibrant,
exciting and beautiful people who encourage others to enjoy the
richness of their cultural heritage.
